What is Rice Maltodextrins Made For?

A consistent and efficient energy source, Rice Maltodextrin is a complex blend of carbohydrates widely used as a food additive. It is produced through the partial hydrolysis of rice starch, offering sweetness, texture, and mouthfeel without altering the overall taste. With a dextrose equivalent (DE) range of 5 to 20, it serves as an excellent bulking agent and carrier in pharmaceuticals, sweeteners, spices, and flavorings.

This white, starchy polysaccharide is obtained through controlled starch hydrolysis, resulting in a hygroscopic, spray-dried powder that is easily digestible with a mildly sweet taste. The level of sweetness in maltodextrin depends on its degree of polymerization, making it adaptable for a wide range of food and industrial applications.
